Debate

Description: At the beginning of the year, our class participated in a debate with a controversial topic. The topic was whether scientific testing on animals was ethical or nonethical. I was apart of the proposition which believed animals should be used for testing. Each group had multiple class periods to plan their arguments, and research evidence.  During the debate, I spoke twice and other idividuals spoke from every group. My group ended up winning the debate, which proved all of my group's hardwork paid off.

Reflection: The debate taught me a lot about the importance of effectively communicating. I spoke for the refutation, which meant I had to disprove the opposition's argument and provide evidence that the proposition was correct. I had to speak confidently and with intonation, which took some practice. I learned how to work under pressure, because we had to write the speech as soon as the opposition stated their claim. I also learned how to work with a group of many different people to reach a common goal. Overall, I learned how to effectively work under pressure and communication skills.

Revision OFK

Description: After writing an essay about the various themes in The Once and Future King, my teacher gave our class the opportunity to correct our essays.

Reflection: This assignment taught me about my strengths and weaknesses in writing.  My most frequent errors are word choice and specificity. I researched my errors and learned how to correct them. I also rewrote every sentence in my essay that contained these errors. Overall, this assignment helped me realize the importance of learning from my mistakes.
